Samera Skills Cycle

1. Vision - All successful businesses have a clear vision, which is usually communicated in the form of a mission statement. Therefore, any practice that wishes to move forward positively must clearly define their vision and communicate it clearly to all stakeholders.

2. Planning - Having a vision is great, but not having a plan, or a route map in how you are going reach your vision is professional suicide. Most businesses fail mainly because they rarely think about the pitfalls that may arise whilst in business. The planning stage is all about identifying the possible problems in advance. Did you know that most businesses fail due to a clear business plan not being prepared?

3. Finance -  Or more elaborately known as financial management is critical to practice success. Watching cash flow, profitability, and monitoring performance is essential in business today, to enable you, the dentist to make investment decisions for your practice. An area that is often overlooked, but paramount to any successful business.

4. Team - No team, no success. The vision of the business must be communicated to the full team, and then the team must be motivated to drive the practice forward towards the vision. Is your practice a team practice, or one where staff feel de-motivated? Get this ingredient right in your business, and things will be much easier.

5. Marketing - No it's not just advertising. Marketing is all about getting the right type of customer for your practice. So what is the right type of customer? Well, in a nut shell, a profitable customer whom you enjoy serving is the right type of customer.

What about clinical skills?

Well it goes with out saying that the clinical skills of the dentist must be outstanding, that is why customers come to you after all. So continuous improvement of these skills is essential for successful practice. However, in the changing environment we are experiencing today, much more is required of you, possessing the aptitude to improve the Samera 5 skills cycle is a necessity in today's dental world.
